A more understanding Eastern Cape starts here

Leading autism with understanding, while supporting the people and families who love us for who we are.

Autism EC exists to bring people together with warmth, respect and practical help. We want families to feel less alone, individuals on the spectrum to feel seen, and communities across the Eastern Cape to grow in understanding.

Built on humility, community and the belief that small, steady action can change lives.

A fresh beginning

This short video introduces the heart behind Autism EC and the kind of community we want to build across the Eastern Cape.

About Autism EC

We are building a caring, practical and hopeful space for autistic people, families, caregivers, educators and allies in the Eastern Cape. This site is not about having all the answers. It is about creating connection, sharing trusted guidance and moving forward together.

For families

We explain things in everyday language, reduce overwhelm and help families find calm, clarity and community.

For autistic people

We believe autistic people deserve dignity, respect, belonging and opportunities to thrive in their own way.

For the wider community

We help schools, workplaces, service providers and neighbours understand autism with empathy and confidence.

Autism, explained simply

Autism is a different way of experiencing and interacting with the world. Every autistic person is unique. Some may need a great deal of support, while others may need less. Strengths, challenges, communication styles, sensory experiences and support needs can look very different from one person to another.

Different, not less Every autistic person is unique Support needs vary Sensory experiences matter Families need support too

How this website can help right now

We focus on the most meaningful support first. This includes clear guidance for families, access to local resources, and building a welcoming community where people feel understood and supported from the moment they arrive.
